February Favorites

I wanted to share some favorites with you. It’s a list of items that are too good to not share.

1) Ardell Magnetic Lashes - these are hands down my favorite magnetic lashes. Wore them this past weekend for an event. They are easy to put on and they add that extra layer of fanciness without being too much. These just go on the outer corner of your eyes. I’ve tried the full eyelid lashes and had trouble putting those on. These were easy peasy. I’m wearing them below…

2) Steve Madden Leopard flats - these easily dress up any outfit without needing to wear heels. Perfect for work or on the weekends!

3) Hollister Hooded Denim Jacket - although it’s for girls, I wear the size Small comfortably.

4) Universal Thread Open Work Diamond-Shaped earrings - these are perfect for the weekends and go with everything!

Nothing Like a White Tee

Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics! This look is easy, comfy and can take you anywhere from running errands, pickup/drop off, or add some heels & a moto jacket, and you’re ready for happy hour!

In today’s look, I’m wearing a fabulous white tee like THIS one (the one I’m wearing already sold out, but this is a very close second!), my go-to skinny jeans (are on sale!!), and these Blondo waterproof wedge sneakers. I wear these sneakers on repeat.

Let’s also not forget the Circle Pendant necklace and the hoops! I wear these hoops probably 4 times a week. I have a nickel allergy and these don’t bother my ears (and they are $7!!)

Camo with a Twist

I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I love camo. Here are some fabulous camo pants with a twist. How fun is this red stripe!? These Express bottoms are currently 40% off. Yessss!

I’m going to show you two ways to wear them.

In the photo above, I’m wearing these mid-rise camo jeans (they run tts) with a black turtleneck, the Kelly & Katie black booties (they also come in taupe), and my favorite hobo tote!

The photo below shows a more casual way to wear these red-striped camo pants.

I’m wearing them with my super comfy Dr. School’s slip-on sneakers and a red henley like THIS one.

This red stripe just adds that extra oomph!

Classic Look

It’s hard to go wrong with a black top, jeans and a pair of boots. Today’s look is easy, and I love that you can dress it up or down depending on what look you’re going for.

For today’s outfit, I’m wearing this Old Navy Swing tee. It runs big, so size down (I’m wearing an XS). This swing long-sleeve tee isn’t overly sized, so it’s still flattering while giving you extra room on those special days we all need it. Sometimes swing tees can look like you are with child (this one does not do that in my opinion). Bonus!

I love the length on this tee. You can easily also rock it with leggings too!

Below are two ways to wear it - the first is letting it hang for a more casual look and the second one, I’ve front-tied it for a little more flair.

With the swing tee, I added my favorite skinny jeans, a leopard-print belt and these fun boots. I’m loving the heel height on these 1. STATE boots (not too high, but girl, there’s still a heel!). They come in black, are very comfortable, and are also on major sale!

In the photo below, I swapped out the boots for a pair of colorful flats like THESE.

THE YEAR OF TRYING NEW RECIPES

My RECIPE Roundup:

This year, I’m making it the year of trying new recipes. I’m not trying a new recipe every night, but trying at least 1-2 a week. I figured I’d share the winners with you periodically in case you need some inspiration.

#1) Skillet Chicken with Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce (CHICKEN)

My Take: This was a winner and it was easy to make. My husband said it might have been the best chicken I have ever made (I tend to super overcook chicken…I don’t have time for salmonella!). I substituted cocounut creamer that I use for my coffee (instead of the heavy cream) because that’s what I had in my fridge and it still tasted good. I also used less red pepper flakes so it wouldn’t be too spicy for my kids.

Click HERE for the recipe link.

#2) Chickpea Tikka Masala (VEGAN)

My Take: I was asked to put this one in the rotation (pretty much music to any mom’s ears!). I extra blend the tomatoes and onions (for the sake of texture for my kids), and they ate it right up. I also didn’t add any cayenne pepper to keep it mild for the little ones. This recipe is perfect in the winter months!

Click HERE for the recipe link.

Today's Style Gem

I wanted to share these flattering gray jeans and different ways to wear them. These NYDJ denim come in a ton of colors. In the first look, I’m wearing them in the light gray color (cuffed at the bottom) with nude mules like THESE, a white tank, and a faux-suede jacket. Oh and let’s not forget the leopard-print clutch.

For the second look, I’m wearing them with a black henley top, nude mules, and a tassel clutch. They are super versatile and I love how you can dress up or down these gray-colored jeans.

The Perfect Joggers + Recipe Roundup

I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of joggers that have the following criteria -

1) They don’t slide down when I walk.

2) They are on the thicker side.

3) They don’t have a drawstring.

4) They have pockets.

5) They don’t give me pancake butt.

I have finally found them! These Gibson x Living in Yellow Ponte Joggers are it! They are marketed so that you can dress them up, but I personally think joggers are best in the casual department.

Today I’m pairing these joggers with my favorite Madewell tee and this Old Navy distressed denim jacket. The joggers run big, so size down. I’m wearing them in size XS. They also come in petite sizing.

I pulled up my joggers a bit to my calves, put on my Nike sneakers, and am ready to walk out the door.

#1) A Middle Eastern Dish called Kibbeh (MEAT)

My Take: This was delicious! My kids ate it too. Win! They said it wasn’t their favorite dish, but they liked it. Still a major mom win! I substituted ground turkey for the lamb and also added green onions and a hint of garlic. I served it with brown rice and green beans. I also made a yogurt spiced sauce to go with it (1.5 cups of plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup shredded cucumber, 1/2 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp minced garlic, 1/8 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper).

Click HERE for the recipe link.

#2) “Nacho” Baked Potato (VEGETARIAN)

My Take: This recipe was a nice alternative to eating a burrito or taco. You can also make this recipe with sweet potatoes. I also added this cashew queso (I like the flavor of the mild one), corn, and mild diced chiles to round out the flavors. I cooked the salsa, beans, corn and chiles together for a minute or two before layering on top of my baked potato.

Click HERE for the recipe link.

Long Tunic Top

I love a good tunic top that is also a button-down. You can wear it closed or open with leggings. Today I’m wearing this H&M Utility shirt in a khaki green. Unfortunately, it’s almost sold out, but they do have it in 3 different shades of blue that is equally as adorable and can be styled the same!

For this shirt, I did have to size up to a size 6. I’m usually a size 4. I paired it with my go-to Old Navy moto leggings. These have great compression, are high-waisted, and I love the length!

I added a vneck tee like THIS one underneath and this fun Circle Pendant necklace. For shoes, I’m wearing my Waterproof Blondo Giselle sneakers. They also come in black. Steve Madden has a similar pair (they are not waterproof), but they are cheaper (click HERE if you want to check those out).

Cozy Dress

Wearing dresses can be limiting in the winter months, but not with this one! This cozy Athleta Surrey Hills Sweatshirt dress is perfect for the fall and winter seasons. Rock it with cute leather (or Sorel-like) boots, leggings, sneakers, the possibilities are endless. It’s on sale today only with an additional 20% off with the promo code BOOST ($66!!). Major win!

So, not only does this dress have thumb holes, it also has a hoodie. Cozy time!

Last week, I saw a pregnant woman wearing this soft dress. She looked adorable, so it can work whether you are expecting or not! Definitely size down though. It runs big.

Don’t mind my dog that loves to make an appearance. ;-)

Today's Style Gems

I usually post one style gem, but I couldn’t hold back with these two fun finds - a puffer and square hoops! I’ll start with this fun puffer.

It’s hard to make a puffer jacket look super cute, but Old Navy has given this puffer jacket some extra flavor…and this jacket can pack itself into its pocket (even better!). This Packable Frost-Free jacket comes in two colors and is currently $35 (40% off!!). Take advantage of this amazing deal!

Here I’m wearing it in lovely Charleston on a girl’s trip this past weekend. I love the rose gold stripe on it!

I decided I wanted mine to be a little longer, so I’m wearing it in Small Tall. The regular small fit me as well, but it hit me right at the top of my hips and I have a very long torso.

My second style gem are these Uncommon James square hoop earrings! I love a good pair of hoops and when I saw these square ones, I instantly gravitated to them. In my opinion, they are the perfect size! They come in gold, silver and rose gold. What more can a girl want!? They go with every single possible outfit.

I Heart Versatile Black Pants

Athleta’s done it again! These Wander Slim Pants fit like a dream! What I love about them is that you can dress them up or dress them down. They also travel really well since they don’t wrinkle. LOVE!

How cute is the slit at the bottom of the pants?! It’s in the details.

In this look, I’m wearing Athleta’s Wander Slim pants with my wool-free Crewneck Sweater from Old Navy. It comes in so many colors! I’m wearing it in a size XS. I added my color pop pink heels (click HERE and HERE for similar options) and my go-to black purse by Rebecca Minkoff.

Here is a better photo to see the adorable detail on this purse.

You can also dress down this look by adding a denim jacket (shown below).

LOOK #2:

For a more casual look, I’m wearing the Athleta pants with my go-to white v-neck tee (I added a little knot), my Adidas superstar sneakers, and my Free People All Day tote in the taupe color.

Below is a better view of the tote with its cute tassel. To complete my look, I added the Free People double strand Tivoli necklace (I’m wearing the silver and brown color. It also comes in gold/black).

Vest Season

Fall is definitely my favorite season. However, sometimes it’s too chilly to just wear a tee, but not cold enough to wear a jacket, so that’s where vests come in. Today I’m sharing my two favorites.

Look #1 - Gray Textured Vest with Leopard-Print Sneakers

This Old Navy gray vest is the perfect shade of gray that goes with everything! It’s lightweight and not boxy. For this look, I’m wearing it with my new favorite Amazon Crewneck Tees (they are $11!) They have the perfect amount of stretch in them and are long enough without being obnoxiously long. Win! I’m wearing them in size XS. They are a fabulous layering basic and come in so many colors!

Now let’s talk about these fabulous Mad Love animal print sneakers from Target that are only $22! How cute are these?! At the bottom of my post, I put more leopard-print sneaker options, so check them out. So cute for fall!

I’m also wearing the Athleta Wander Slim Pant! These are my new favorite pants. They have the cute cut-out at the bottom, are slimming and don’t wrinkle. It’s a nice break from the usual leggings! I’m wearing these pants in the photo below as well!

LOOK #2: Gray vest with Gray Sneakers

With this look, I switched out the sneakers to my comfy Dr. Scholl’s gray Madison sneakers and my favorite JCrew short-sleeve tee in sapphire blue. I love the sleeve length on these tees. They are slimming and look good on everyone! They are not too tight and also come in so many colors.

LOOK #3: Green Utility Vest

This vest is a great way to add a utility-feel to your look! It’s also a great price point at $29! Here I’m wearing it with the Athleta black pants and the Amazon crewneck layering tees! My puppy seriously loves to photobomb my pictures!

Green Moto Leggings

I love a good pair of leggings and these Old Navy High Rise Compression Moto leggings in green are a new favorite. With the code SWEET, they come out to $23!! Now that is a great price point! These leggings come in this gorgeous olive color, black, plum and gray.

These leggings are a soft matte color, so they have no shimmer or faux-leather look to them. Today I’m wearing these leggings with a white v-neck tank and this ultra cozy Gap Softspun Open-Front Cardigan in marled black. This sweater is beyond soft (I can’t emphasize that enough) and has zero wool. Wool is not my friend! I love that it’s long enough to wear with leggings and for reference, I’m wearing an XS. It does run a tad big. This cozy layer comes in a light gray and deep wine color as well, so definitely check it out.

To finish things off, I’m wearing my comfy slip-on sneakers from Dr. Scholl’s. I heart Dr. Scholl’s shoes! I love to wear heels, but usually need a rest day or two after wearing them, so these are awesome! This light gray color goes with everything and changes things up from the usual black slip-on sneakers. Click HERE, HERE and HERE for similar necklaces.
